2019 Lahaina ‘Mardi Gras of the Pacific” Halloween Party

Highlights include the 40th Annual Keiki Halloween Costume Parade at 4:30pm sponsored by the Lahaina Rotary Clubs and the West Maui Soroptimist.  Maui Keiki are invited to come in costume and parade down Front Street to Banyan Tree Park, receive a congratulatory ribbon and bag of treats. Come enjoy The Lahainaluna High School Marching Band.  Mayor Alan Arakawa and his wife Ann will be participating in the festivities.

All are invited to join in the Keiki activities at Campbell Park or enter the Costume Contest Halloween night at Banyan Tree Park from 7pm-9pm.  Sign up begins at 6pm at a Pioneer Inn retail store on Hotel Street adjacent to the main stage in Banyan Park.

A music DJ  will be spinning the tunes at the Costume Contest at Banyan Tree Park from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Ono grinds will be available for purchase from 4pm in Campbell Park.

The Lahaina Bars and Restaurants will all be open and hoping for our business, most will not be accepting reservations for dinner. Most stores and galleries in Lahaina will be closed for the evening. (The only night of the year the Lahaina shops close; not even for Christmas or New Years!)

Day time is family fun, by dark….well let’s just say it can get wild and crazy! by  9:30Pm is it standing room only in the streets and you can barely move. Thank goodness for cell phones nowadays! Before cell phones, you had to have a meeting place because the chance of losing sight of your friends was quite good. Mind i am barely 5 ft tall, I am sure my brother at 6’2″ does not have the same problem 🙂

Schedule of Events:

3:30 PM-Midnight } Front Street Road closure; Baker to Prison St. NO FRONT STREET PARKING and Front St. will be closed to vehicular traffic.

4PM-10PM } Campbell Park; Live music with the “Haiku Hillbilly’s”, official Halloween in Lahaina t-shirt sales from Noon to 10:00PM (or sell out), Keiki Activities: Face Painting, Photo Opps, Ono Food starting at 4PM

6:00 PM Banyan Tree Park} Costume Contest Registration- Hotel St. (Pioneer Inn Shops) 6pm-8:45pm $20 dollars per person; Costume Contest- DJ Serna spinning tunes 6:30-9:30pm. Emcee: Angel O’Brien; Costume Contest- 7pm-9pm- Sponsored by Honu Seafood & Pizza and Mala Ocean Tavern; Announcement of Costume Contest Winners -9:30pm

The Lahaina Town Action Committee and the Office of Economic Development will host a family-friendly event for the residents and visitors of Maui.  To keep Halloween fun and safe for everyone please review the following information.

Street Closure: From Baker Street to Prison Street, Front Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3:30pm to midnight.  No Street parking is allowed from 3:30pm-midnight.  Employees parked in parking lots with ingress/egress only on Front Street will not be able to exit parking lots between 3:30pm-midnight.

Obey the Laws:  Underage drinking is prohibited.  Alcohol consumption is prohibited.  Public nudity is prohibited. *however that does not stop people having barely anything on!

Other:  The Lahaina Town Action Committee Lost Person Tent will be located at Banyan Tree Park, corner of Front and Hotel Streets.   Porta-Potties will be located throughout town including Papaluau St, Lahainaluna Rd, Fleetwood’s On Front St. alleyway, Market Street, and Canal Street.
